PERKINSTON - The Northwest Mississippi Community College women's (5-6) and men's (6-5) tennis teams traveled to Perkinston to face top 15 ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and ultimately, suffered a tough conference defeat losing 3-6 and 0-9, respectively. 

Although the match ultimately ended in a defeat for the Rangers, the women's match had several bright spots including a doubles win and two singles wins. 

Sophomore Meg Daves comfortably won her singles match against Paige Baronich in two sets, only dropping five games across the whole match. The standout match for the women came when freshman Ava McCain battled back from a set down to win in a ten-point match tiebreaker.  

Even though the men's team ended the day with no wins, there were two matches that ended in ten-point match tiebreakers. Sophomores Holden Cooke and Brady Holliman both suffered tough match tiebreaker losses in their respective singles matches.  

NWCC will travel to Raymond to play Hinds at Cleon McKnight Tennis Center in their penultimate MACCC matchup on Friday, March 27 at 2 p.m. Hinds Community College women's tennis is ranked 16th. However, the Eagles' men's team is not ranked.
