MERIDIAN - Northwest Mississippi Community College women's (3-3) and men's (4-2) tennis team earn their first MACCC road win over Meridian by a score of 7-2 and 6-3, respectively. 

Carrying momentum from two straight conference wins, one being a ranked win for both teams over Southwest, the teams were able to secure their second straight ranked win. The women secured the win over #23 Meridian, and the men secured the win over #19 Meridian.  

The highlight for the women came from a three-set battle from Claudia Lopez Chaparro that ended in a vital Ranger victory. Chaparro suffered a tough first set loss in a seven-point tiebreaker.  However, Chaparro was able to turn the match around and win the next two sets to secure the win.  

The standout moment for the men was a group of dominant singles wins from Holden Cooke, Jordan Mitchell, and Brady Holliman. Through all three matches, these three Rangers lost a total of four games and never lost more than one game in a set. 

The team will look to build upon their momentum as they head into their home match against 

Coastal Alabama-South on March 5 at 3 p.m.
