Ranger Women Begin Title Defense With 10-0 Win Over #14 St. Louis

Jensen strikes for hat trick, adds two assists

WESTFIELD, IN – It was a near perfect start for the Northwest Mississippi Community College women's soccer team on the way to a 10-0 win over #14 St. Louis Community College on Saturday thanks to a full team effort as seven Rangers scored and another four added assists.

The first half saw the NWCC offense dominate, putting 20 shots up and scoring six goals, opening with Emma Jensen putting the Rangers up 1-0 after Kassidy McMillan found her in the 13th minute.

Just one minute later, Lillie Grace McCutchen made the first of back-to-back goals on an assist from Allie Kimbrell and punched in a second unassisted goal in the 25th minute to make it 3-0.

Jensen, who finished the game with a season opening hat trick, showed her vision to pick up her first assist of the season in the 33rd minute by feeding Allie Sifford for a 4-0 advantage.

The Rangers ended the first half with another flurry of goals when Lara Stevens was assisted by Mary Logan Clark in the 44th minute and just nine seconds after that, Jensen sent the game to the half at 6-0 with an unassisted goal.

A second assist followed for Jensen to open the second half in the 47th minute when she found Amiyah Baker to make it 7-0, and the reigning MACCC Player of the Year finished her hat trick in the same minute on an assist from Joline Knevel.

The bench cleaned up the remainder of the match for the Rangers thanks to unassisted goals from Molly Thompson on a penalty kick in the 54th minute and Caroline Hamm finding the back of the net in the 64th minute to enact the mercy rule and finish the game after just 70 minutes.

While the offense was on display, it was defense that ruled the match, only allowing three total shots to the Archers while taking 31 of their own and putting 23 of those on frame. Ann Marie Barton played the full game in net for the Rangers, picking up her first clean sheet of the season and making two saves.

The Rangers will wrap up their opening tournament of the season against Neosho County Community College who are receiving votes in the NJCAA Division II preseason polls.
