BOONE, Iowa - Competition came to a close on Friday afternoon at the inaugural NJCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, and Northwest put the wraps on a historic first season.
Though the Lady Rangers finished 15th on the team leaderboard, Northwest became the first Mississippi community college to play on the national stage after capturing a sixth-place finish at the NJCAA South District Tournament last month.
Freshman
Kali Figueroa, who garnered NJCAA South District All-Tournament Team honors, placed the highest among all Lady Ranger competitors. The Bakersfield, Calif. native finished 58 over par and 36th on the player leaderboard, followed by
Carinton Davis, who shot +80 and finished No. 59 among 84 total competitors.
Addison Forbes finished 110 over par for the week, checking in at No. 71 overall, followed by Zae'Ja Davis at +132 and 75th overall.
Maddie Baker finished 79th on the player leaderboard as well.
Fellow South District opponent Shelton State (Ala.) won the event, shooting +123, followed by Mesa Community College (Ariz.) at +157.
