Box Score ELLISVILLE - Northwest led four singles matches by a set in Saturday's match against Meridian, but the Lady Eagles clinched the 5-0 victory beforehand in the third place match of the NJCAA Region 23 Championships.
With the loss, the Lady Rangers officially finished fourth out of eight teams in the postseason tournament.
Northwest dropped all three doubles matches, with the closest coming in the form of an 8-6 loss from the duo of Laura Cámara Blanco and
Mattie Sanders. The Lady Ranger tandem fell to Meridian's Lilly Hollingsworth and Cheludo Monnayoo.
In singles competition,
Macarena Arisio and
Allie Rawles dropped their respective matches on courts one and six. However, the Lady Rangers were up a set in the remaining four matches.
Northwest will now await a potential at-large bid to the NJCAAÂ Division I Women's Tennis Championships, which is scheduled for May 3-7 in Tyler, Texas. The Lady Rangers secured a bid to last season's tournament, finishing 16th out of 28 teams.
