Box Score ELLISVILLE - Jones College swept doubles competition and picked up two quick singles matches, shutting out Northwest by a 5-0 final in Friday's NJCAA Region 23 Championships.

Laura Cámara Blanco and Mattie Sanders provided the closest match at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-5 to the Lady Bobcats' duo of Theresa Emelio and Maria Martinez. Meg Daves and Allie Rawles also fell 8-3 at No. 3 doubles, while Jones College picked up an 8-0 shutout at the No. 1 slot.

Cámara Blanco and Sanders dropped their respective singles matches at courts three and four, allowing the Lady Bobcats to clinch the victory.

Despite the loss, Northwest will continue into the third and final day of the NJCAA Region 23 Championships, as the Lady Rangers face No. 3 seed Meridian in the third place match, scheduled for 2 P.M. on Saturday. The Lady Eagles fell 5-1 to No. 2 Mississippi Gulf Coast in Friday's other semifinal battle.
