Box Score ELLISVILLE - Two doubles victories and wins in singles competition from Mattie Sanders, Meg Daves and Allie Rawles lifted fourth-seed Northwest to a 5-1 triumph against No. 5 Hinds in the NJCAA Region 23 Championships.

With the win, the Lady Rangers captured their first win in the NJCAA Region 23 Championships since the program was revived ahead of the 2023 season. 

Northwest dropped the first doubles match, but responded with wins on courts two and three. The duo of Sanders and Laura Cámara Blanco captured a gritty 8-6 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Daves and Rawles won by an 8-1 decision at No. 3 doubles.

Sanders captured a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 4 singles, while Daves swept Hinds' Tierney Cronin at No. 5 singles. Rawles delivered a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 6 singles against Josilyn James, with the other three singles matches suspended after the clincher.

Now 10-4 on the season, Northwest will take on tournament host Jones College on Friday at 10 A.M. The Lady Bobcats are coming off a 5-0 shutout against eighth-seeded East Central.
