Box Score 2 SENATOBIA - Just one day after finishing with a split against Meridian, the Northwest tennis teams hit the road and garnered two road wins at East Central on Thursday afternoon.
Northwest picked up a 7-2 win against the 24th-ranked Warriors, while the No. 21 Lady Rangers edged out 23rd-ranked East Central by a 5-4 decision.
Things started off on the right foot for Northwest in the men's match, as the Rangers swept all three doubles matches. Though the Warriors responded with victories on courts one and two of singles' competition,
Holden Cooke,
Cole Stoddard,
Joshua Tedford and
Brady Holliman each captured wins down the rest of the lineup.
In women's competition, two of the three matches went in favor of East Central, but Northwest won all the singles matches on courts three through six. Freshman
Meg Daves picked up one of the most dominant victories in singles' competition, earning a 6-1, 6-0 decision against Addy Lea Page.
Additionally, freshman Laura Cámara Blanco battled to a three-set decision against Isabella Estrada Avila on court three, picking up a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win.
With the sweep, the Northwest men improved to 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the MACCC. The Lady Rangers moved to 8-3 on the season and 5-2 inside conference play.
Following Spring Break, Northwest will resume competition at Holmes on Friday, March 21 at 2 P.M.
