Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SENATOBIA - For the fourth time this season, the 19th-ranked Northwest women's tennis program recorded a victory over a ranked opponent on Tuesday afternoon, defeating No. 16 Itawamba by a 5-4 final on Sophomore Day.

Unfortunately, Itawamba's 17th-ranked men's program played spoiler to the Ranger men, defeating No. 18 Northwest by a 7-2 margin.

In the women's match, Northwest was aided by picking up two doubles victories, including a solid 8-2 decision on court two by the duo of Laura Cámara Blanco and Mattie Sanders. Sophomores Kendall Moody and Allie Rawles also battled through an 8-5 win on court three.

Itawamba picked up wins in singles' competition, primarily at the top of the lineup. However, Cámara Blanco, Sanders and Meg Daves all managed to earn victories in the middle of the order, highlighted by Daves' 6-0, 6-2 decision on court five.

Though the Indians left with the win in the men's match, Northwest still had its fair share of highlights. The tandem of Gabriel Koonce and Cole Stoddard chalked up an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles, while Joshua Tedford earned a hard-fought win in the tiebreaker on court five.

With the split, the Lady Rangers improved to 9-3 overall and 6-2 inside the MACCC. Meanwhile, the Northwest men dropped to 10-3 on the season and 7-2 in conference play.

Both teams will close out the regular season on Friday, March 28 at Jones College. The Lady Bobcats are currently No. 10, while the men's team is ranked at 13th nationally. The matches are slated for a 2 P.M. start time.
