Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SENATOBIA - A win by Allie Rawles at No. 6 singles provided the biggest highlight for Northwest on Friday afternoon, as the Lady Rangers dropped an 8-1 match to 12th-ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Northwest was also shut out in men's action for the first time this season, dropping a 9-0 decision to the 12th-ranked Bulldogs.

Rawles took a gritty three-set victory against Karla Bethea, capturing the 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (8) win. However, the overall score looked more lopsided than it was, as the Lady Rangers battled closely throughout several singles matches. One of the closest decisions came at No. 2 singles, where Laura Cámara Blanco dropped a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Valeria Callejo-Vivar.

Mississippi Gulf Coast jumped ahead 3-0 with a quick sweep in doubles competition, and the Bulldogs did the same in men's competition as well. However, the Rangers also put up a fight in singles' play, battling at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6. 

With the losses, both Northwest teams fell to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in the MACCC. The Rangers and Lady Rangers will look to rebound on Monday, March 3 against Hinds.
