Box Score 4 MONTGOMERY, Ala. - After having Mother Nature wreak havoc on Friday's season opener at Bevill State, the Northwest tennis teams left Alabama with wins in three of its four matches on Saturday.
Northwest notched a pair of shutouts in women's tennis action, defeating Huntingdon College and Snead State by a pair of 7-0 and 9-0 finals, respectively. Meanwhile, the men's team narrowly lost to Huntingdon College, 4-3, before rebounding for an 8-1 victory against Gadsden State.
In the matches against Huntingdon College, the Lady Rangers swept the doubles point and all of singles play, while the Hawks captured two of the three men's doubles matches, taking the doubles point. The duo of
Holden Cooke and
Miguel Lazaga Robayna were the lone victors for the Northwest men, while
Luca Morris,
Cole Stoddard and
Joshua Tedford earned wins in singles play.
Northwest will host Rust College on Friday, February 7 for the 2025 home opener. Matches are scheduled to begin at 11 A.M. at The ROC (Ranger Outdoor Complex).
