NWCC sweeps Pellissippi State to win their last game of the Mississippi/Alabama Crossover Tournament

Rodriguez leads the team in assists with 17

FULTON - In their final match of the Mississippi/Alabama Crossover Tournament, Northwest Mississippi Community College (3-1) won their second straight game via a 3-0 sweep when they beat Pellissippi State Community College (1-3).

NWCC dominated the match from start to finish, winning the first set 25-18, the second set 25-21, and the third set 25-10. The Rangers led in every statistical category, except for blocks where the teams were tied at five each.

Ariana Woods led all players in kills with 15. This was Woods' third match with double digit kills. Freshman Adalyn Callahan added 10 kills of her own for her first double match of the year.

Northwest served four aces over the course of the match with Dallas White picking up two to lead the team.

The one-two punch of freshman setters Chloe Rodriguez and White once again proved their ability to run the NWCC offense by garnering 17 and 12 assists, respectively.

The Rangers displayed their ability to be a staunch defensive team with Sailor Cole and Hassie Clare Thurman both accumulating eight digs while White added seven of her own.

The team will be back in action on Monday, August 25 at 1 p.m. when they take on the Chattanooga State Community College Tigers (0-1) in the home opener at Howard Coliseum.
