Emma Jensen named National Tournament MVP as three Rangers earn All-Tournament honors

Head Coach James Beattie named Coach of the Tournament

WICHITA, KS - The Northwest Mississippi Community College women's soccer team was well represented on the NJCAA Division II All-Tournament Team and post tournament awards lists after coming away with the 2025 National Championship in a thrilling 2-1 rally to defeat Heartland Community College last Saturday, picking up their second consecutive national title.

After the tournament, the Rangers saw multiple accolades handed out to their best performances, including the Tournament MVP award going to sophomore Emma Jensen, who was the lone goal scorer in the win over the Hawks in the title match, finishing the game winner in the 87th minute on a pass from Caroline Perkins and two minutes later getting the game winner on a penalty kick. Jensen's heroics didn't just come in the title tilt though. She was also a standout throughout the tournament just like she was throughout the season for the Rangers. She was the only Northwest player to pick up a point in every match, scoring and earning an assist in the opening match and picking up an assist in the final match of pool play. She also had a goal and an assist in the 3-2 come-from-behind win over Jones College, and played a roll in the final goal in overtime as she had the second touch on a ball that was finished by Perkins for the game winner.

Jensen was joined on the All-Tournament Team by both Perkins and Allie Kimbrell, who also had stand out tournaments on the way to the national championship.

Perkins finished the tournament with four goals and an assist for nine total points, picking up a goal in each of the Rangers wins in pool play before coming up with both the tying goal against Jones College in the semifinal win as well as the golden goal winner in overtime. She also had the assist on the tying goal in the national championship match and it was her run into the 18-yard box that drew the penalty from Heartland Community College that resulted in the game winner from Jensen.

Kimbrell also was a strong representative for the Rangers all week, showing off her versatility as the sophomore represented a defense that limited two of the top goal scorers in the country to just one goal each in the semi-final and championship matches and limited opponents to under ten shots in every game other than the semifinal against Jones where the Bobcats had 12. She was a lockdown wing defender on Sherline King in that semi-final after the sophomore from Jones had gone off for four goals against the top seed Johnson College.

The cherry on top of all of this is Head Coach James Beattie being named the Coach of the Tournament after guiding the Rangers to their second consecutive National Title. Beattie accomplished it while winning his 100th game as the head coach of the Rangers in the process and his leadership resulted in three come-from-behind wins in the process, trailing Southern Union State Community College 1-0 early in the opening match and trailing late to Jones 2-1 and Heartland 1-0.
