Northwest Welcomes First Women's Golf Signing Class

Inaugural season to begin this fall

SENATOBIA - Since arriving at Northwest last fall, head men's and women's golf coach Ryan Brickley has been hard at work, piecing together his inaugural signing classes for the 2024-25 season.

Now, with just a handful of months remaining until the first event of the season, Brickley has rounded out his roster for the first-time women's program.

A total of five players will represent the Lady Rangers on the links this fall, including a trio of out-of-state freshmen. Additionally, Northwest will also welcome a pair of Mississippians to complete this season's roster.

"It's a really exciting opportunity to be one of the few schools starting women's golf in our conference," Brickley said. "Our main focus this season is to have fun and improve with each tournament. We have a good group of student-athletes and I am looking forward to building our program around them."

Carinton and Zae'ja Davis, both of Southaven, will represent the Magnolia State on the Lady Rangers' roster this season. The duo competed in golf at DeSoto Central High School, which finished fourth in the state. Additionally, Carinton Davis also finished third in the Hernando Invitational last fall, helping the Lady Jaguars to a first place finish in the event.

Maddie Baker, Kali Figueroa and Addison Forbes are the remaining three to join the program. Baker, a native of Glencoe, Ala., comes to Northwest after competing in both golf and soccer at Glencoe High School.

Figueroa, a product of Bakersfield, Calif., finished 6-0 individually for Bakersfield High School, while her team sported a record of 5-1. Bakersfield High School also finished as the league champions, and Figueroa chose Northwest over offers and interest from California Lutheran University, Arizona Christian University and Spalding University.

Forbes comes to Northwest from Denham Springs, La., where she competed for Walker High School, which finished undefeated in the regular season. Forbes also finished her high school career with all-state academic honors.

Northwest is just one of two women's golf programs competing in the MACCC this fall, joining East Mississippi. Northeast is also expected to join in on women's golf for the 2025-26 season.

As for this season's schedule, Northwest is putting the finishing touches on the expected slate, which will be posted on nwccrangers.com when finalized.
