Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FULTON - After an extended break, the Northwest tennis teams returned to action on Thursday, falling in a pair of conference matches to Itawamba.

Northwest dropped a 9-0 decision in the men's match to the 17th-ranked Indians, while the 21st-ranked Lady Rangers took a 6-3 loss to No. 15 Itawamba.

In doubles competition, the No. 3 duo of Raney Peacock and Holly Stewart earned an 8-5 win against Itawamba's Caitlyn Ard and Ainsley Robison. Grace Ann Wade and Allie Rawles came away with a pair of singles victories on courts three and five, with Wade defeating Cheyenne Hughes by a 6-3, 6-3 final. Rawles earned her win against Ard by a 6-3, 6-3 decision.

Gabriel Koonce and Joshua Tedford provided the Rangers with their closest doubles match at No. 1, as the duo dropped an 8-2 loss to Tasso Moreiro and Joan Mateu Ramis Pascual. Gunner Pitt gave a strong effort at No. 6 singles, falling 6-2, 6-3 to Jacob Jolly.

With the losses, the Northwest men dropped to 1-10 overall and 1-6 in the MACCC, while the Lady Rangers moved to 6-5 on the season and 3-4 in conference play.

Northwest will host its final two regular season matches next week, taking on Holmes on March 26 and Northeast on March 27. The match against Holmes is scheduled for 2 P.M., with Sophomore Day taking place against Northeast at 3 P.M.
