Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BOONEVILLE - Thursday provided the third win in a row for the Northwest women's tennis team, as the Lady Rangers scored a 9-0 triumph at Northeast, marking the first shutout victory of the season.

On the men's side, Northwest put up another strong fight, but ultimately fell to the Tigers by a 5-4 decision.

After taking the doubles points without much pushback, the Lady Rangers quickly went to work in singles play. Mattie Sanders blanked her opponent at the No. 2 singles slot, while Allie Rawles and Grace Ann Wade shutout their opponents in the second set of both matches at No. 3 and No. 5.

Holly Stewart also picked up a victory in No. 1 singles, while freshman Kendall Moody scored a 6-2, 6-1 decision at No. 4 singles.

Northeast won two of the three doubles matches in men's competition, but the duo of Dallas Lane and Campbell Owens did earn a a hard-fought decision in the No. 2 slot. The two freshmen battled through tiebreakers at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, earning victories, while Gabriel Koonce also fought through a gritty match at No. 2 singles.

With the loss, the Northwest men's team fell to 0-4 on the season, as the Lady Rangers improved to 3-1 overall. The Rangers are slated to begin conference play on Tuesday, February 13 at Meridian, which is scheduled for a 1 P.M. start time.
