RAYMOND - A five-goal second half helped No. 3 Northwest gain separation in a 7-0 blowout of Hinds on Friday afternoon.
Northwest led 2-0 in the first half, thanks to goals from
Evie Crawford in the sixth minute and
Caroline Chandler in the 38th minute.
Emma Wilson and
Allie Reed Greer provided the respective assists on both scores.
In the 53rd minute of the match,
Jada Jelks kicked off the second half scoring with a header from
Brandy Hernandez. Ten minutes later,
Jadyn Duran responded with a goal off an assist from
Emma Earwood, widening the gap to 4-0.
Northwest wasn't quite done, though. In the 78th minute, Alexandria "Penny" Warner collected her 10th goal of the season, thanks to an assist from
Mari Julia Delgado. The final two scores of the match would come off the foot of Delgado, who netted her ninth and 10th goals of the season. Duran and
Mia Kate Cade provided assists on both of Delgado's goals.
Northwest took 36 shots for the match, while holding Hinds to none. The Lady Rangers also finished with 24 shots on-goal.
With the win, the Lady Rangers improved to 12-0 overall and 5-0 in the MACCC, while Hinds fell to 1-8 on the season and 0-5 in conference play. The Lady Rangers will return home on Tuesday, October 3 against East Mississippi.
