Box Score ELLISVILLE - Postseason play came to an early end for the Northwest women's tennis team, as the Lady Rangers dropped a 5-0 decision in the Region 23 quarterfinal round to No. 12 Mississippi Gulf Coast on Friday.
MGCCC jumped out to a 3-0 advantage after sweeping doubles play, with the closest match coming at No. 1 doubles in an 8-3 loss for
Amelia Anding and
Grace Ann Wade. The Lady Rangers then dropped a pair of 6-0, 6-0 losses on courts five and six in singles play, allowing the Mississippi Gulf Coast to clinch the shutout win.
Northwest fell to 4-10 with the loss, but impressively made the postseason in the first year of coach Will Irvin's revival of the program.
