TEMPE, Ariz. - After cracking the ITA's JUCO Men's Collegiate Tennis Rankings last month, the Northwest men's program has jumped two spots to No. 22 in the latest batch of rankings, released Thursday.
Northwest (4-4, 4-1 MACCC) has been on a tear after an 0-3 start to the season, as the Rangers have won four straight conference matches. Those results included victories over previously-ranked Hinds (#21) and Copiah-Lincoln (#23).
Other MACCC programs included in the latest round of rankings include the Rangers' Friday opponent, Jones College. The Bobcats are the highest-ranked team from the MACCC, checking in at No. 14 overall, followed by Mississippi Gulf Coast at No. 15, Meridian at No. 17 and 19th-ranked Itawamba.
Additionally, Hinds slid two spots to No. 23 and Copiah-Lincoln dropped down a slot to 24th. Cowley (Kan.) tops the national ITA rankings, followed by No. 2 Tyler Junior College (Texas), Eastern Florida State College at No. 3, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (Georgia) at No. 4 and fifth-ranked Collin College (Texas).
In the Region III rankings, the ITA has Jones College listed at No. 6, followed in order by Mississippi Gulf Coast, Meridian, Itawamba and Northwest, rounding out the 10-team poll.
Northwest and Jones College (13-1, 7-0 MACCC) will face each other on Friday, March 10 at 2 P.M. in Ellisville. Live scoring from both men's and women's tennis matches can be followed
