Losing Streak Extended with Road Loss at Coahoma

CLARKSDALE - Despite a back-and-forth affair with local rival Coahoma, Northwest was unable to come out on top in a non-conference road loss to Coahoma, dropping the 84-73 decision.

Three Northwest players reached double figures, highlighted by a near double-double from Darren Davis. The sophomore from Olive Branch led the Rangers with 16 points and eight rebounds, followed by 10 points each from Jordan Ealey and Marquavous Jones off the bench.

Northwest trailed by three points at halftime, 41-38, but Coahoma outpaced the Rangers down the stretch. The Tigers had three players score 20 points or more, led by a 26-point, 13-rebound double-double from Jaqai Murray.

Jaden Slaughter also netted 20 points and eight rebounds for the Tigers, while Arthur Tate III provided 21 points.

Northwest shot 38 percent from the floor and 26 percent from three-point range. The Rangers were also 17-of-23 from the free throw line, while Coahoma finished 78 percent from the charity stripe and 43 percent from the floor.

With the loss, the Rangers' losing streak moved to three games, as the record now stands at 1-5 on the season. Northwest will aim to get back in the win column after Thanksgiving, traveling to East Mississippi on Monday, November 27 at 7:30 P.M.
