SCOOBA - Northwest was held to 19 points in the first half and East Mississippi pulled away over the course of the second half, as the Lions upended the Rangers by a 74-50 margin on Monday evening.
Despite the loss,
Darren Davis had another solid game for Northwest, finishing with a 13-point, 11-rebound double-double.
Thomas Tangle also added nine points, followed by six from
Shavurdacour Nicholas.
Northwest shot just 29 percent on the evening and went 3-for-19 from three-point range. The Rangers also finished 11-of-24 (46%) from the charity stripe.
Three East Mississippi players scored in double figures, led by 17 from Andrew Mason. Hunter McCutcheon added 16 points, followed by 10 from Nick Walker.
East Mississippi shot 45 percent from the floor and 27 percent from beyond the arc. The Lions were also 69 percent from the free throw line.
With the loss, the Rangers fell to 1-6 overall and suffered their fourth straight loss. Northwest will host Mississippi Delta on Thursday, November 30, for the final home game of the 2023 calendar year.
