COLUMBUS - Fresh off a thrilling five-set victory against Pearl River Monday evening, Northwest didn't miss a beat in Tuesday's 3-0 shutout of MUW JV.
It was the fourth straight victory for the Lady Rangers, which improved to 19-15 overall.Â
Northwest routed the Lady Owls by a 25-14 margin in the opening set, but MUW JV challenged the Lady Rangers a bit more in the second set. Despite the close battle, Northwest still took a 25-22 decision from MUW JV, stretching its match lead to 2-0.
Both teams battled through the third set, as MUW JV tried to keep the match alive. However, Northwest still pulled out the 25-20 victory and clinched the road shutout.
Jacia Hayes posted a team-high nine kills and two blocks to lead Northwest, while freshman
Anna Lott added eight kills.
Layla Dyer finished with 20 assists and 10 digs, followed by 14 assists from
Sarah Bolin.
Cristen Cleveland and
Ally Grimes combined for four of the Lady Rangers' seven service aces, while
Kaley Rikard posted seven kills.
Northwest will resume play on Friday, October 6 in Booneville, facing Northeast and Bevill State. The match with the Lady Tigers is scheduled for 2 P.M., followed by the Bevill State match at 4 P.M.
