COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. - Behind a solid four-goal output in the first half, No. 12 Northwest added four more in the second half to cruise to an 8-0 victory at Southwest Tennessee on Tuesday afternoon.
Less than two minutes into the match, freshman 
Jadyn Duran got the Lady Rangers on the board with an assist from 
Melinda Hernandez. Five minutes later, sophomore 
Jennifer Enriquez would find 
Avery Hooker for another Northwest goal and 2-0 match lead.
Though the Lady Rangers were held scoreless over the next 10 minutes, Northwest still did its part on defense, keeping the Lady Saluqis from attempting a single shot. That would remain true for most of the match, with Southwest Tennessee only attempting one shot late in the second half.
After Hernandez broke the brief scoring drought in the 18th minute, 
Dani Rodriguez tapped one in the 25th minute off a double assist from 
Katie Archer and 
Addison Vargas, pushing Northwest to a 4-0 lead. The Lady Rangers would attempt several more shots in the first half, but were unable to connect, keeping the score at 4-0.
With Northwest still struggling to score to open the second half, a foul in the box provided a penalty kick opportunity for Enriquez in the 64th minute. The attempt proved to be successful, kick-starting another scoring surge for the Lady Rangers.
A 5-0 lead grew to a 7-0 lead in the span of a single minute, as both Hernandez and 
Mia Kate Cade both found the back of the net in the 71st minute. Hernandez also assisted Cade's goal, while Duran provided the assist on Hernandez' goal.
With time winding down, freshman 
Evie Crawford made sure to add to her season scoring total, providing an unassisted score for her team-leading fourth goal.
Much like its season debut, Northwest continued to relentlessly fire off shots. finishing with 42 on the day and 20 shots on-goal. In the season's first two matches, the Lady Rangers have totaled an eye-popping 93 shots, against just three shots allowed by the opposing teams.
Addy McCann moved to 2-0 on the season, despite not recording a save in either of her starts. 
Amelia Anding preserved the shutout in the second half, earning one save on a late shot attempt from the Lady Saluqis.
Northwest will have a quick turnaround ahead, as the Lady Rangers will head back north to take on Dyersburg State for a 5 P.M. match. Live stats will be provided once again for the match by clicking
