CLEVELAND - Former Northwest pitcher
Josh Hill has a new home at the four-year level after signing with Delta State University earlier this week.
An Indianola native, Hill spent the last two seasons in a Ranger uniform, tossing 56.2 career innings with 64 strikeouts against 26 walks. He leaves Northwest with a 4-4 record in 25 career appearances, mostly in relief.Â
One of Hill's best outings actually came during his freshman campaign, when he tossed six strikeouts with a walk and two runs allowed in a 5-2 victory against Jones College in March 2021. He lasted 8.2 innings and earned the win on the mound, marking the longest outing of his Northwest career.
Hill's longest appearance as a sophomore came in a March 26 victory against Meridian, where he tossed a season-best four strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief to help the Rangers edge the Eagles, 9-8.
Hill is the ninth signee from the 2022 Northwest squad to move on to the four-year level. Earlier this week, outfielders
Peeko Townsend and
Landon Rogers inked with Jackson State and UT Southern, respectively, joining a list of several Rangers moving on.
Hill will reunite with Northwest teammate and fellow pitcher
Colton Presley at Delta State, a storied program that finished 32-17 last season and made the NCAA Division II South Regional. The Statesmen compete in the Gulf South Conference.
