SENATOBIA - East Mississippi's Blake Butler could not be stopped in Northwest's 104-75 loss on Monday evening.
Butler scored a whopping 45 points for the Lions, finishing 18-of-30 from the field, as the Rangers surrendered 100 points to an opponent for the first time since a 112-101 loss at Northeast on February 7, 2019.Â
East Mississippi led by 10 points at halftime, 48-38, and the Lions outscored Northwest 56-37 over the course of the second half.
Northwest was paced by an 18-point, 10-assist double-double from Joseph Cooper and an 11-point effort from Darren Davis. The Rangers also saw starters
Jaylon Sanders and Jordan Ealey contribute nine points each, while Terry Joyner and Jayvian Shaw scored eight points apiece off the bench.
In addition to Butler's whopping point total, East Mississippi also had 16 points from Andrew Mason and 11 from D.J. Avery.
Northwest shot 41 percent from the floor, but the Lions finished well ahead with 52 percent shooting. EMCC was also 38 percent from beyond the arc, while the Rangers went 10-for-32 in three-point attempts.
With the loss, the Rangers' losing streak has extended to five games. Now 1-5 on the year, Northwest will aim to get back in the win column in Thursday's 6 P.M. road tilt at Mississippi Delta.
