MOORHEAD - A big night from
Jaylon Sanders that yielded 21 points and nine rebounds was just one of many things that helped Northwest earn a 92-88 road win at Mississippi Delta on Thursday evening.
Sanders' performance was the best of his career, helping the Rangers snap a five-game losing skid and improve to 2-5 on the season. Mississippi Delta fell to 3-4 with the loss.
Northwest took a 51-45 lead into halftime and was able to hold on to the advantage throughout most of the second half, although the Trojans definitely remained within striking distance the entire way.
In addition to the big night from Sanders, the Rangers also got a boost from three other players in double figures. Devin Moore provided a spark off the bench, securing a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double, while Joseph Cooper's 15 points and nine assists fell just shy of double-double criteria. Darren Davis' 13 points and nine rebounds also came just shy of being a double-double for the Rangers.
Jherrone Jones led Mississippi Delta with a whopping 35 points, while Jeremiah Foster finished with a 10-point, 11-rebound double-double. Keondra Hampton also provided 14 points for the Trojans.
Northwest shot 53 percent from the floor, compared to a 42 percent effort from Mississippi Delta. The Rangers also outmatched the Trojans in total rebounds, 45-32.
