CLARKSDALE - There has been no shortage of hitting for Northwest during the first half of the 2021 season and the Rangers' bats remained alive and well in Tuesday's road sweep at Coahoma.
Winning both games by a pair of 17-0 and 19-4 finals in three innings, Northwest slugged out 32 hits on the afternoon, including 20 in the finale.
Oakley Laughter highlighted the opener by going 3-for-3 at the plate, punctuated by a double and a pair of two-run homers.
Caylee Comer also blasted a three-run homer in the nightcap that set up a nine-run first inning.
In the circle, Saige Kockza tossed two scoreless innings with a pair of strikeouts in Game 1, while
Mallory Hunt polished off the final inning. Hunt also started the second game and picked up the win in three innings of work.
Northwest improved to 10-6 overall and 7-5 in the MACCC, while Coahoma remained winless on the season. The Rangers will travel south on Friday, March 19 for a date with eighth-ranked Jones College in Ellisville.

Game 1 - Northwest 17, Coahoma 0 (3 inn.)
A 12-run first inning from Northwest did more than enough damage in the Rangers' dominating effort at Coahoma.
Northwest nearly batted around twice in the order during the first inning, before tacking on three runs in the second and two more in the third.
Koczka and Laughter both finished 3-for-3 with four RBIs to lead Northwest at the plate, while Comer and
Laila Armstrong came away with two hits each.Â
Kockza allowed just one hit in the victory and tossed three strikeouts against two walks, improving to 3-2 in the circle.
Game 2 - Northwest 19, Coahoma 4 (3 inn.)
A late three-run homer in the bottom of the third inning served as the lone Coahoma highlight, as the Rangers once again jumped out to a sizable lead of 9-0 in the first inning, setting up the sweep of the Tigers.
Comer's three-run homer allowed Northwest to get on the board at 3-0, as the Rangers scraped across six more runs in the top of the first.
Coahoma got a run back in the bottom of the first, only for the Rangers to add another run in the 10th and nine more in the top of the third.
Down 19-1, the Tigers got a three-run homer in the bottom of the third to add a slight spark, but Hunt and the Rangers quickly shut down any hope of a rally.
Kaitlyn Bednarek went 4-for-4 at the plate with a home run and seven RBIs, while Helms finished 3-for-3. Northwest also had five players finish with two hits apiece, as the Rangers hammered out a season-high 20 hits.
