Biography

2021 [Freshman]: Played and started in all 38 games last season, helping Northwest to a 20-18 overall record and appearances in the MACCC and NJCAA Region 23 tournaments...finished the year with a .357 batting average, a team-leading 13 doubles, two triples, seven home runs and 37 RBIs...her seven home runs currently rank third in a single-season...went 4-for-4 twice in victories at Arkansas State and Coahoma, collecting a combined 13 RBIs in both contests...hit three homes in a late season sweep at East Central, two in one game...Honorable Mention All-MACCC selection...off the field, named to the Fall 2020 Vice President's and Spring 2021 President's Lists...recognized as both an Academic All-MACCC and third team NJCAA All-Academic performer.

High School: Played for head coach Phyllis Hicks at DeSoto Central...helped the Lady Jaguars to a 6-2 record during a COVID-19 shortened senior season...hit .417 with two doubles and an RBI...as a junior, played a pivotal role on DeSoto Central's Class 6A state championship squad that finished 26-5...shattered program records for batting average (.553) and slugging percentage (.818)...finished the 2019 season with 13 doubles, seven triples, five home runs and 35 RBIs...went 3-for-3 with a triple, a home run and three RBIs in a 16-0 victory against Horn Lake on April 2, 2019...earned numerous honors to the Clarion-Ledger's All-State softball team, Commercial Appeal First Team All-Metro and selected as the 2019 Mississippi Association of Coaches' All-Star Game MVP...also helped DCHS to the 2018 Class 6A state title as a sophomore, as the Lady Jaguars went 22-6-1 on the season...batted .476 with 10 doubles, a triple, two home runs and 21 RBIs...went 3-for-4 at the plate with with three doubles and three RBIs in a 16-0 victory against Horn Lake on April 5, 2018...finished with a .761 slugging percentage...as a freshman, helped DCHS to a 21-7-1 overall record...batted .348 with four doubles and three RBIs...posted a .521 slugging percentage...off the field, was involved in numerous school clubs and organizations, including SADD, Hands & Paws and the spirit club...graduated DeSoto Central with distinction...received interest from several MACCC programs.

Personal: Daughter of Karyn and Arthur Bednarek...has an older brother, Jeffery (23)...enjoys swimming and riding ATVs in her spare time...studying elementary education...nickname is "Katiebug"...born March 27, 2002.
