CLARKSDALE - Four players finished in double figures for Northwest, highlighting the Rangers' season-opening 84-60 victory on the road at Coahoma on Monday night.
Joseph Cooper posted a solid debut, leading all scorers with 25 points and finishing 11-of-17 from the floor.
T.J. Hannah also totaled 11 points and six rebounds, followed by 11 points from
Zandon Haralson. Sophomore
James Richards III rounded out the Rangers' leading scorers with 10 points and three assists.
Kavonte Tunstall led Northwest with nine rebounds, while Hannah added a team-high three steals.
Northwest led 44-31 at the end of the first half and outscored Coahoma, 40-29, over the course of the second half.
Northwest finished 48 percent from the floor, while the Tigers shot 36 percent on the evening. Coahoma edged the Rangers 51-47 in total rebounds.
Coahoma was led in scoring by Quan Brown, who tallied 17 points. Jo Perez also added 11 points, followed by 10 from Kei Johnson.
Northwest (1-0) will travel to East Mississippi on Thursday, November 4 for a 6 P.M. tipoff. The Rangers will then host SAU Tech on Monday, Nov. 8 for the home-opener.
