CHARLOTTE - For the first time in several weeks, the Northwest Lady Rangers have risen a couple spots in the latest NJCAA Division II rankings, released Monday afternoon.
After hovering between the 12-13 slots, Northwest has moved up to No. 11 in this week's final regular season poll. The move comes after the Lady Rangers netted a 2-2 draw against then-No. 4 Holmes in last week's season finale.
Jones College is the highest MACCC program ranked, checking in at No. 2 overall with a 12-1 record. The Lady Bobcats sit just behind top-ranked Heartland (Ill.) and just ahead of new No. 3 Holmes (12-1-2). Waubonsee (Ill.) and Allen County (Kan.) round out the top five in the No. 4 and No. 5 slots, respectively.
Northwest will host Meridian, the No. 3 seed from the MACCC South Division, in tomorrow afternoon's quarterfinal match. This marks the first time in program history that the Lady Rangers have hosted a postseason match and the first match played at the Lady Rangers' on-campus facility since the 2019 season.
Tomorrow's match is scheduled for a 1 P.M. start time and will be carried live on Ranger TV (nwccrangers.com/watch) and Facebook Live.
