Lady Rangers Net Second Consecutive Shutout

Northwest clinches home playoff match in first round

FULTON - Northwest scored three goals in a single 10-minute stretch to put Friday's division match out of reach, as the 13th-ranked Lady Rangers blanked Itawamba, 3-0.

With the win, Northwest improved to 14-2 overall, tying the most victories by the Lady Rangers in a single-season. (The only other 14-win season came in 2006, when the Lady Rangers finished 14-5 and won the MACJC North Division.) Northwest also clinched home field advantage for the first round of the upcoming MACCC Playoffs.

Finishing the first half with a scoreless draw, the Lady Rangers finally struck in the 53rd minute of the match, as Katie Archer connected with Jennifer Enriquez for a 1-0 lead. Five minutes later, Enriquez officially tied the program's career record for assists, earning her 19th on a feed to Ally Bailey, who tapped one in for her 13th goal of the season.

Northwest closed out the scoring stretch with Enriquez earning her 10th goal of the season, thanks to a pass from MJ Loeffel in the 64th minute.

Northwest outshot Itawamba 21-9 overall and 8-4 on goals. Maggie Olive netted all four saves for the Lady Rangers and posted her second straight shutout.

Northwest will conclude the regular season on Tuesday, October 26 in a Sophomore Day match with No. 4 Holmes. First kick is set for 1 P.M. at the Senatobia Sports Park, with live coverage provided on Ranger TV (nwccrangers.com/watch).
