No. 12 Northwest Downs Southwest Mississippi, 4-1

Jennifer Enriquez Breaks Single-Season Assists Record

SENATOBIA - It took No. 12 Northwest a little while to score in Friday's 4-1 non-division victory against Southwest Mississippi. However, once the Lady Rangers earned their first goal, it was on from there.

Southwest Mississippi scored first with Alexandra Shimaski's goal in the 31st minute, but the Lady Rangers tied the match with less than a minute remaining in the first half, as Jennifer Enriquez connected with Molly Rose just before halftime.

Northwest would break the 1-1 deadlock in the 73rd minute, as Enriquez notched her second assist on a goal by Ally Bailey, officially becoming the Lady Rangers' new single-season assists leader at 16 total.

Less than four minutes later, Bailey provided an assist of her own, finding MJ Loeffel to give Northwest a 3-1 advantage. Katie Archer would then provide the final blow in the 83rd minute, tapping in a deflected shot attempt from Melinda Hernandez.

Addy McCann earned her third straight start at goalkeeper, totaling five saves and allowing just one goal.

With the win, Northwest improved to 11-1 on the season, matching the program's last 11-win season in 2017 (11-6). The Lady Rangers will step back into MACCC North Division competition on Tuesday, October 12 at 1 P.M. against 13th-ranked East Central.
