Northwest Baseball Lands Eight on All-Cotton States Baseball Team

NEW ALBANY - Northwest was well-represented with several current and former players participating in summer baseball leagues, including eight Rangers that received recognition to the recently announced All-Cotton States League team.

Led by former Rangers Brayland Skinner (Mississippi State) and Trent Bunting (Arkansas Monticello), the list also included Dylan Hale, Cade Spratlin, Landon Rogers, Dillan Fiveash, Kelton Hall and Joel Wilkinson.

Skinner played and started in all 20 games over the summer for the Golden Triangle Jets, compiling a .351 batting average with seven doubles, two triples, a home run, 11 RBIs and a .596 slugging percentage. The Lake Cormorant native was also a perfect 8-for-8 in stolen bases with a .448 on-base percentage.

As part of the North Delta Dealers, Bunting compiled a perfect 6-0 record in seven appearances, striking out 44 batters against 16 walks with a 5.33 ERA. He also held opposing batters to a .240 batting average.

Bunting's fellow teammate, Hale, finished the summer by playing and starting in 18 contests, earning a .413 batting average. The Southaven native also totaled six doubles, two homers and 23 RBIs for a .674 slugging percentage.

Spratlin also had a stellar summer for the Dealers and hit .320 with a pair of doubles, a home run and eight RBIs in 18 games played. The Bruce native was also 3-for-3 in stolen bases.

In 17 games with the Tippah County Tribe, Rogers batted .289 with three doubles, a triple, six RBIs and a .400 slugging percentage. He also stole nine bases on 10 attempts.

Despite a 1-5 record, Fiveash proved himself to be a solid option on the mound for the Tallahatchie Rascals. The Hernando product compiled a 2.58 ERA in eight appearances and struck out 52 batters against 22 walks, while holding the opposition to a .181 batting average.

Finishing as second team All-Cotton States League selections, Hall and Wilkinson both had impressive outings during the summer as well. Suiting up for the Golden Triangle Jets, Hall totaled three doubles, a home run and 10 RBIs for a .290 average at the plate. Wilkinson made four appearances on the mound for the Tribe, striking out five batters in relief.
