Northwest-Coahoma Game Postponed; Homecoming Ceremonies to Continue

SENATOBIA — Northwest Mississippi Community College's game against Coahoma Community College this Thursday has been postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.

The decision comes after conferring with presidents at both institutions and after Coahoma spent the early portion of the week in quarantine.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we have taken this action to continue to protect our student-athletes, coaches, fans and administrators," MACCC Commissioner Steve Martin said. "We will continue to monitor the situation as we move forward."

Although the game is currently ruled as a "no contest", a makeup date could be determined if the schedule permits.

Despite the game's postponement, Northwest will still celebrate Homecoming as scheduled with a special event held Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Bobby Franklin Field. The full homecoming court will be presented, along with performances from the Northwest Ranger Band, cheerleaders, Rangerettes and an introduction of the Northwest volleyball and football teams.

The full event will be streamed live on nwccrangers.com/watch beginning at 7 p.m.

Northwest will resume action on Saturday, November 7 at Mississippi Delta. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. in Moorhead, with live coverage available on nwccrangers.com and on Twitter (@NWCC_Rangers).
