Football improves to sixth in the week six NJCAA Division I polls

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - After picking up their sixth consecutive win, the Northwest Mississippi Community College football team moved up one spot to sixth in the most recent polls from the NJCAA, picking up the position after a dominant 45-7 win over Coahoma Community College on Thursday evening.

Northwest is still looking for a spot in the top four, which qualify for the NJCAA postseason tournament. Currently, that group is led by top ranked Hutchinson Community College and second ranked Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, who both remained the only unbeaten team in the country after Northeast Oklahoma A&M dropped their weekend battle with #11 Dodge City Community College, falling to 10th in the poll in the process. The other three spots ahead of Northwest are held by #3 Iowa Western Community College (4-1), #4 Georgia Military College (4-1), and #5 Trinity Valley Community College (5-1).

three other teams from the MACCC are currently in the national rankings with #7 Copiah-Lincoln Community College (4-2) and #8 Itawamba Community College (5-1) in the top ten and #11 East Mississippi Community College (5-1) tied with Dodge City with 39 points for that position. The Rangers will face off against Itawamba and East Mississippi later on the season, hosting the Indians on October 15th at Bobby Franklin Field before traveling to East Mississippi on October 29th.

As for now, the Rangers are preparing for a road contest at Holmes Community College (1-5, 1-1) on Thursday, October 8, with kickoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from Goodman. You can watch that game on Ranger TV with Tyler Springs and Russell Copeland on the call, with the pregame show beginning at 6 p.m.
