FULTON - Northwest saw its postseason hopes dashed on Thursday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to Itawamba, a match that was made up after being suspended due to inclement weather last Friday.
Northwest needed an outright win to secure third place in the MACJC North Division, which would have delivered the Rangers' first postseason berth since 2016.
ICC struck first 20 minutes in after Josh White connected with Lando Nichols on a header in the box, providing the only goal of the first half for either team.
Itawamba stretched its lead quickly in the second half as Clayton O'Daniel hit Diego Trujillo in the 49th minute. Irvin Rodriguez (78') and Peyton Avery (88') added a pair of additional goals for the Indians late in the match to solidify the shutout win.
Northwest was held to just one shot in the second half and were outshot 26-5 for the match.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Tim Spencer posted 11 saves in his final career outing, finalizing his season total to 114. The Cordova, Tenn. native leaves as the Rangers' all-time saves leader with 210 career stops.
Northwest closes the 2019 campaign at 2-12-1 overall and 2-5-1 in the MACJC North Division.
