SENATOBIA – Freshman
Katelyn Rock provided Northwest with the lone goal of the match in a 1-0 victory against division rival Hinds on Tuesday afternoon.
Tuesday's win allowed Northwest to earn the season sweep against the Lady Eagles, following a 3-1 triumph on August 30 in Raymond. The Lady Rangers improved to 3-8 overall and 2-3 in the MACJC North Division.
Despite both teams posting some close shots throughout the first half, it wasn't until the 41st minute when one would actually count, as
Ally Bailey found Rock for her third goal of the season.
Hinds came out of the second half a little more heated on offense, firing off seven shots within the first seven minutes.
Maggie Olive held strong between the posts however, earning nine saves and moving her individual record to 2-3 on the season.
Northwest outshot Hinds 21-16 and 13-9 on goal, with Rock and
Cheyenne Smith combining for 10 of the Lady Rangers' 21 shots.
With the regular season entering the homestretch, the Lady Rangers will face 17th-ranked Holmes on Tuesday, Oct. 8 in Senatobia. Live stats for that matchup will be provided at nwccrangers.com.
