SENATOBIA – In a rare Sunday matinee at Ranger Soccer Field, the visiting St. Louis Archers scored a pair of second half goals to pull away for a 3-0 win over the host Northwest Lady Rangers.
St. Louis improved to 6-4-1 while Northwest fell to 3-6-1.
Grace vanHoornbeek's slow roller into the back of the net provided the lone goal of the first half in the 37th minute for the visitors.
Northwest was held to three shots in the opening 45 minutes, with two of them on net from
Maisy Cooper and
Cheyenne Smith.
SLCC would make it 2-0 just one minute into the second half on vanHoornbeek's assist to Madison Gann.
A scramble around the net that bounced off several players eventually found Kelton Hewett that allowed the Archers to score their final goal in the 73rd minute.
Northwest's best scoring chances came early in the second half but were all saved by Libby Modde.
SLCC owned a 23-9 shot advantage for the afternoon, 15 of those shots on frame.
The Lady Rangers will return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Southwest Tennessee.
