SENATOBIA – Northwest broke away from a 1-0 halftime lead with five goals in the second half from five different Lady Rangers to rout Southwest Mississippi 6-1 on Saturday.
Northwest (2-0) got a huge performance from reserve goalkeeper
Makenzie Ellis, with the sophomore coming on in the 21st minute for an injured
Angel Hailey and finishing with a career-high 12 saves.
Landyn Hoover's goal in the 39th minute broke a scoreless tie and gave Northwest a 1-0 advantage at the break.
Goals from
Cheyenne Smith and
Autumn Harra extended the lead to 3-0 in the 72nd minute and then a barrage of Lady Ranger goals over a 4:29 span put the game out of reach, 6-0.
Southwest added a late goal from Cheyenne Higgs with 1:05 left to avoid the shutout.
Northwest will take its unblemished record on the road Monday-Tuesday, traveling to Jones County and Meridian.
