Cheyenne Smith netted the first two goals of her collegiate career in the game's first 10 minutes and Northwest withstood a late push from Motlow State to hold off the Lady Bucks 3-1 in the season-opener for both teams on Friday.
In just the second-ever meeting between the two teams, Motlow outshot Northwest 20-10 but only managed one goal in the 81st minute from substitute Emily Vallejo.
Goalkeeper
Angel Hailey was outstanding in the opener, finishing with 11 saves for her third straight double-digit save performance dating back to last season. The sophomore improved to 8-1 overall in net to start her career.
Autumn Harra put the finishing touches on Motlow with her third career goal with :01 left on the clock, off a
Landyn Hoover assist, to make the final 3-1.
