SENATOBIA – Northwest sophomore second baseman
Dakota Dailey has been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District 1 Baseball Team, as announced Thursday afternoon by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Dailey was the only baseball or softball athlete to make the list in District 1 from the MACJC, which also consists of student-athletes from 21 other states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia.
Entering the Region 23 playoff series against Mississippi Gulf Coast, Dailey is fifth on the team with a .315 batting average with seven doubles, a triple, four home runs and 16 RBIs during his sophomore campaign. The Holly Springs native and South Alabama signee is also inside the top five in numerous statistical categories, including slugging percentage (.477) and on-base percentage (.452).
Dailey has gotten it done both on and off the field throughout his Ranger career. He boasts a 3.71 GPA in business administration and was a 2017 MACJC and NJCAA All-Academic selection, has been named to both the President's and Dean's List and is a two-year member of Phi Theta Kappa. On the field, he's started 77 games at second and is a .300 lifetime hitter.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
