Lady Rangers Rout ASU Mid-South, 101-67

SENATOBIA – Northwest picked up an added 68-point boost from its bench, as the host Lady Rangers rolled to a 101-67 victory against ASU Mid-South on Monday night.

The win brought the Lady Rangers back to .500 at 2-2 overall, while the Lady Greyhounds remained winless at 0-5.

Tied at nine apiece halfway into the opening quarter, Northwest broke open a 13-0 run over the final 4:48 of the first to take a 22-9 lead.

Throughout the rest of the contest, the Lady Rangers' lead gradually increased, reaching its largest first half margin of 24 after a layup from Lindsay Hall. The Lady Greyhounds closed the gap slightly over the final minute of the half, but Northwest still held a commanding 47-28 lead at the halftime break.

Northwest picked up right where it left off to open the second half, as the Lady Rangers opened up on a 9-0 run, highlighted by a Hall three-pointer. Ericka Richardson would later push the lead to 30 off a layup at the 5:43 mark of the third period.

Northwest continued to push further away over the course of the second half, taking its largest lead of 42 with a Claire Fleming layup with just over four minutes remaining in regulation.

Some sharp shooting from Tatyana Burks kept the Lady Greyhounds going down the stretch, but the Lady Rangers never allowed their lead to fall below 30 in the 34-point victory.

As a team, the Lady Rangers outscored ASU-Mid South 68-0 off the bench, with freshmen Fleming (18) and Madison Pharr (17) combining for 35 of those points. Fleming also fell shy of a double-double, picking up eight rebounds in the process.

Richardson also collected 12 points on the night to round out the Lady Rangers' double-digit performers.

Burks had 33 points to lead a short-handed Lady Greyhounds' team. Haley Morgan (14) and Nariah Matthews (12) also finished in double figures, while Briana Stewart added 10 rebounds in the losing effort.

Northwest will turn its attention to the Tri-States Classic at Howard Coliseum later this week. The Lady Rangers will host Snead State on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. and Mineral Area College on Friday, Nov. 16 at 12 p.m.
