Rangers Conclude 2018 Season with Tie at Holmes

RIDGELAND – Sophomore Parker Trawick scored the Rangers' lone goal in a 1-1 double overtime tie at Holmes on Monday afternoon, closing out the 2018 season for Northwest.

The loss concluded Northwest's season record at 2-10-1 overall and 1-6-1 in the MACJC North Division, while Holmes finished at 4-9-1 and 3-4-1.

Although both teams finished the first half locked almost evenly in shots attempted, neither team was able to connect for a goal resulting in a scoreless tie at the break.

After a handball in the box, Khalee Wilson scored his third goal of the season to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 advantage in the 68th minute.

Northwest had no intentions of fading away quietly, however, and Trawick responded after a foul in the box in the 80th minute to tie the match at 1-1.

Over the course of both overtime periods, the Rangers and Bulldogs finished dead even at three shots apiece and only one on goal, keeping the match tied after double overtime.

Holmes ended the match with a slim 17-15 shot advantage and 10-9 on goal. Both teams were also whistled for 25 combined fouls, including a Joseph Hayes' yellow card just five minutes in.

Freshman keeper Tim Houston collected nine saves in the loss.
