Lady Rangers Drop Home Finale to Hinds

SENATOBIA – Despite only trailing by a goal at halftime, Northwest was unable to find the net in the second half as Hinds defeated the Lady Rangers 2-0 on Friday afternoon.

With the loss, Northwest dropped to 4-9-1 overall and 2-5 in the MACJC North Division, ending the Lady Rangers' playoff hopes.

After coming off the bench 10 minutes into the first half, Gabby Williams got Hinds on the board after dishing in a pass from Kim Fruin in the 35th minute for the only score of the first half.

Northwest had a few chances to tie the match, most notably with three shots-on-goal from Cheyenne Smith, but were unable to fully connect.

Hinds received some breathing room in the 72nd minute after Fruin connected with Ciara Goggin, pushing the Lady Eagles advantage its final tally.

Northwest was outshot 28-10 on the day and 20-6 on goal.

Sophomore Angel Hailey collected her 10th double-digit save performance of the season and 12th of her career, stopping 18 shots.

The Rangers will conclude the 2018 campaign at Holmes on Oct. 15 at Freedom Ridge Park in Ridgeland. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
