Hailey Breaks Saves Record But Rangers Fall at Holmes

RIDGELAND – Sophomore keeper Angel Hailey tallied 19 saves in her final career match to set a new program record, even as Northwest fell 3-0 to 11th-ranked Holmes on Monday afternoon.

Hailey's 19 stops were enough to set the Northwest record for career saves at 255, with a save percentage of .870 and an average of 1.85 goals allowed. She also ends her Ranger career with double-digit saves in 13 matches, 11 from this season.

Hailey also continues to lead the MACJC and NJCAA at 190 saves and is currently the only goalkeeper in the conference with 100 or more saves.

As for the match itself, the Lady Rangers struggled to find offense in the season finale, totaling just one shot to 40 from Holmes.

Despite the shot differential, Northwest only trailed 1-0 at halftime after surrendering a Lady Bulldog goal from Isabella Wade in the 39th minute.

Zoe Ellis extended the deficit in the 70th minute with her 24th score of the season, pushing Holmes to a 2-0 lead. Caseigh Hickman would add the final goal just minutes later off rebound shot off the post.

Northwest concludes the 2018 campaign at 4-10-1 overall and 2-6 in the MACJC North Division, while Holmes remains unbeaten at 15-0 and 8-0 in divisional competition.
