SENATOBIA – One goal was all Northwest needed on Friday afternoon, as freshman
Taylor Williams delivered the third game-winner of her collegiate career in the 53rd minute in the Lady Rangers' 1-0 win over Motlow State.
Northwest improved to 6-3 overall with its fifth shutout of the season, while Motlow State fell to 2-4-1 on the year.
Scoreless after the first half, the Lady Rangers finally found the back of the net in the 53rd minute as Williams used a cross into the box from
Landyn Hoover and a touch from
Lauren Snyder to beat the keeper for the go-ahead goal.
Although the Lady Bucks challenged Northwest with a more aggressive attack for the remainder of the match, the Lady Rangers withstood several close shots and were able to hang on for their fourth win in the last five matches.
Northwest outshot Motlow State 17-10 and both teams finished evenly with eight shots on goal.
Freshman
Angel Hailey played the entire second half for Northwest and collected seven of the Lady Rangers' eight saves, improving her record to 4-0.
Northwest will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 3 at Southwest Tennessee. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. first kick and will be played at St. George's Independent School in Collierville, Tenn.
