SENATOBIA – Northwest stayed unbeaten at home with a sweep of Mississippi Delta on Wednesday afternoon by 8-4 and 9-1 finals.
Northwest improved to 15-11 overall and 9-5 in the MACJC with the pair of wins and 8-0 in Senatobia.
MDCC got off to a hot start in the opener with a four-run first inning off starter
Tori Luke, using a two-run double from Kaylin Lloyd and two-run single from Mayah Wright.
Northwest scratched a run back in the bottom half on
Sallie Rose Carver's RBI-single to score
Kailey Walker.
Harley Smith relieved Luke after a shaky first and shutout the Lady Trojans the final six innings, allowing only two hits while striking out a career-high eight.
Ally Judkins' leadoff double in the bottom of the second highlighted a big inning in which the Rangers would score four times to take their first lead at 5-4. Smith doubled to score Judkins,
Morgan Gresham's fielder's choice scored another, Walker hit a sac fly to left and Carver singled to put Northwest on top for good.
After a single run in the fourth,
Sarah Taylor and Judkins provided RBI-singles in the fifth to cap eight unanswered runs for the 8-4 win.
Northwest had 11 hits in the opener, led by a 3-for-3 effort from Walker in the leadoff spot.
Tied 1-1 after one in the nightcap, Smith silenced MDCC once again in the latter innings, allowing one hit the final five innings to earn her team-leading seventh win of the year.
Two Lady Trojan errors plated two runs in the second and Northwest led 3-1 after two. They'd add single runs in the third and fourth to extend the lead to 5-1 after four.
Leeah Henson's RBI-single made it 6-1 in the fifth and Smith would double and eventually steal home to make it 7-1.

Alexis Winters and Smith doubled to left to score pinch runner
Kali Roberts all the way from first for a 9-1 walk-off win in six innings.
Northwest finished with 10 hits, and held MDCC to only three, led by Smith's 3-for-3 effort and two hits each from Luke and Taylor.
Weather permitting, Northwest will host 14th-ranked Itawamba tomorrow at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader.
