Northwest Run-Rules Coahoma 10-0 in Six Innings

SENATOBIA – Northwest bounced back nicely from a 14-4 loss to Mississippi Delta with a 10-0 run-rule win in six innings over Coahoma to cap a three-way event at Jim Miles Field on Friday.

Northwest improved to 12-6 overall while Coahoma fell to 9-5.

Dalton Minton (4-1) allowed just two hits and struck out five against three walks in five innings of work before J.G. Lipscomb closed out a clean sixth.

David Herrington's leadoff homer in the first set the tone early and Northwest followed with a single run in the second, three in the third and sixth and two in the fourth for the shortened victory.

Northwest out-hit Coahoma 11-3 in the win, with Hunter White going a career-high 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Herrington and Bailey Nix added two hits each as seven different Rangers had at least one hit.

Northwest will enjoy a week off before opening conference play at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 18 at Pearl River.
