RAYMOND –
Lauren Snyder,
Autumn Harra and
Landyn Hoover each scored goals and Northwest posted its eighth shutout of the year in a 3-0 win at Hinds Tuesday afternoon to clinch a spot in the postseason.
Northwest won for the first time in Raymond since 2006 and improved to 9-5 overall and 4-4 in division play to wrap up the No. 3 seed in the north. They will travel to the south's No. 2 seed Pearl River on Tuesday, Oct. 24 for a 5 p.m. kick in Poplarville.
Snyder's second goal of the year in the 30th minute broke a scoreless tie and gave the Lady Rangers a 1-0 lead at the half.
Northwest outshot the Lady Eagles 14-3 in the opening 45 minutes in a match that could've easily been 3-0 at intermission.
Harra extended the Northwest lead to 2-0 in the 60th minute, scoring her first collegiate goal off a
Gaby Villatoro assist.
Hoover would then finish off Hinds with her team-leading sixth goal, in the 89th minute from a Harra rebound shot, to make the final 3-0.
Angel Hailey improved to 5-0 between the posts with her seventh combined shutout, only needing three saves.
Northwest will close out the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Southwest Tennessee seeking its fourth 10-win season in the program's 16-year history.
