SENATOBIA – One goal shy of a hat-trick,
Jonathan Felix scored twice for the Rangers in Northwest's 4-1 division victory against East Central on Wednesday afternoon.
Northwest improved to 3-1-1 with the win and 1-0-1 in the north division, while ECCC dropped to 2-1 and 1-1.
Felix got things going for the Rangers 28 minutes into the first half, as
James Longmire helped set up the score, giving Northwest the 1-0 advantage.
East Central responded before the halftime break, however, with a Courtland Moore goal in the 40th minute to tie the match at 1-1.
Northwest came out firing into the second half, as a corner kick from
Christian Clements led to a Felix header in the 55th minute, putting the Rangers back on top at 2-1.
Michael Ledbetter would widen the gap a few minutes later as
Bryant Young assisted the freshman on his fourth goal of the season, extending the Northwest lead to 3-1.
Northwest delivered one final parting shot in the 76th minute, as
Peyton McKnatt connected with Young for the Rangers' fourth and final goal of the day.
Brandon Carrillo finished with four saves on the afternoon to earn his third win in net, while Zack Vickers tallied 12 saves for the visiting Warriors.
Northwest will continue its homestand on Friday, Sept. 9 against Holmes (0-4, 0-1 north). The start time is slated for 3 p.m.
